The Maintenance Painter is responsible for applying paint, stain, and coatings to walls, ceilings, the interior and exterior of structures or buildings, and other surfaces as needed. The painter will determine the proper products to use, and equipment needed to complete the painting job based on the item or items to be painted. The painter will also perform other duties in support of the Maintenance department as needed.

The employee must frequently lift up to 60 lbs.

The employee must pass background check that includes a Drug Test.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Communicate with management to determine what item or items need painting.
- Assembly and disassembly of scaffolding and other safety equipment as required.
- Covering trim, floors, furniture, and other surfaces with masking tape or coverings to protect surfaces that are not to be painted.
- Prepare surfaces to be painted by washing them and filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding them until they are smooth.
- Applying primer or sealer to make sure the paint adheres, and the finish is protected.
- Mixing and matching paint, stain, and other finishes to match existing color or desired outcome.
- Applying paint, stain, or other finishes using paint brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
- Remove old finishes using the proper tools and techniques such as paint removers, solvents, or scrapers.
- Maintaining inventory of paint, brushes, and other necessary supplies.
- Cleaning machines, equipment, and painting tools after the job is complete.
- Removing and reinstalling fixtures as necessary.
- Following all safety guidelines to perform all tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Good color vision and aesthetic instincts in order to color match existing items or suggest complimentary colors.
- Attention to detail to ensure that the paint finish is neat and clean, resulting in the desired outcome.
- Experience and knowledge of proper painting techniques and types of paint, stain, or coatings for different types of surfaces.
- Physical strength, stamina, and dexterity to safely perform all tasks in various environments and conditions.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to follow directions.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- No degree is required but the employee must have a determinable work history showing experience in painting techniques, color matching, and knowledge of applicable surface preparation suitable for painting.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of work order forms, inventory forms, supply lists, etc.
