JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant


DEPARTMENT: Accounting


REPORTS TO: Controller, Administration, and Ownership


SENIOR ACCOUNTANT SUMMARY:

Reporting to accounting team’s Controller/Lead, the Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to practice and develop a broad spectrum of skills, including analyzing trends that guide business decisions and assisting with the monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate accounting close process (e.g., fixed assets, roll forwards, reconciliations, journal entries, risk management, treasury, intercompany with sister companies, corporate budgeting, trend analysis, and reporting on budget vs. actuals). The Senior Accountant will also assist in researching technical accounting issues related to business combinations (purchase accounting), and WIP progress-billing revenue recognition.


SENIOR ACCOUNTANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure in accordance with US GAAP.
  2. Hands-on experience with a variety of close tasks, helping ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close and Audits.
  3. Assist the treasury function with cash applications, payments, and banking operations.
  4. Complete accruals for month and year-end.
  5. Assist in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and providing analysis around variances from budget/forecast.
  6. Research technical accounting issues that arise and draft related accounting memos.
  7. Work cross-functionally to improve accounting processes that affect the entire firm.
  8. Maintain the fixed asset ledger (additions, disposals, transfers, etc.), including depreciation and tax reporting, ensuring accuracy of data according to US GAAP.
  9. Manage and maintain prepaids, perpetual inventory flow, including the monthly close schedules.
  10. Prepare account reconciliations across the balance sheet (cash, receivables, payroll, fixed assets, etc.)
  11. Demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement, including automation, and help design scalable, system-based solutions that replace spreadsheet-driven workflows with potential Legacy to new ERP conversion.
  12. Clocks in and out for activities throughout the day in Pierson Wireless’ project management cloud solution.
  13. Properly documents work performed in Pierson Wireless’ project management cloud solution.
  14. Provides support to other team members and staff as needed.
  15. Submits all receipts and expense records.
  16. Abides by all policies and procedures as identified in the Pierson Wireless handbook.
  17. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


SENIOR ACCOUNTANT SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. This position does not currently hold any supervisory responsibilities but will require interaction within the department and with those outside the department and company.

Position Requirements


SENIOR ACCOUNTANT QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate Degree required (preferred in accounting or finance).
  2. Bachelor's Degree preferred (preferred in accounting or finance).
  3. CPA certification or prospective CPA candidate (preferred but not required).
  4. 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  5. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  6. Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Vista, SAP, Oracle).
  7. Advanced spreadsheet skills and attention to detail (Excel & Google Sheets).
  8. Support external auditor information requests.
  9. Create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations and roll out reconciliation procedures.
  10. Play a vital part in the company's financial management, which includes all account reconciliations and reporting to the necessary parties.
  11. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
