What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) position at Pierre School District 32-2?
This person must be licensed to assist in the practice of Speech-Language Pathology, under the supervision of or in consultation with a licensed Speech Pathologist. This position involves working with students ranging from birth through age 21. Duties include:
1. Providing educationally related Speech-Language services to individuals according to the child’s educational plan
2. Document student performance and collect progress monitoring data on records, charts, or graphs and report this information to the SLP
3. Assist with preparing materials, programming augmentative communication devices, and scheduling students
4. Perform checks and maintenance of equipment.
5. Support the SLP in data collection and in-service training.
6. Complete Medicaid billing for services provided to student eligible for Medicaid.
7. Adhere to responsibilities of SLPAs and refrain from performing tasks that are the responsibility of the SLP as defined by the SD SLP Licensing Board.
