Position Summary

We are seeking a litigation associate to support the firm’s Hampton Roads-based litigation practice, overseeing active cases, supervising associate attorneys and staff, and driving growth in the firm’s commercial and employment litigation portfolio. This role is ideal for an aspiring trial lawyer with proven leadership ability, and the desire to help shape the next phase of Pierce Jewett’s expansion.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with a portfolio of complex litigation matters, including employment, business, and commercial disputes.
• Develop and implement litigation strategy from intake through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Foster and maintain client relationships, delivering proactive, results-driven legal counsel.
• Collaborate with partners across offices to align litigation strategy with broader firm objectives.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with litigation experience; prior trial experience preferred.
• Active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Demonstrated success in managing client relationships and originating business.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills; ability to lead and inspire a litigation team.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in growing the firm’s presence in the Richmond market.

• Base Salary: Competitive associate-level base compensation commensurate with experience and origination.
