Position Summary
**Pierce College is looking to fill two Part-Time Campus Safety Weekend Officer vacancies. One vacancy is at the Fort Steilacoom (Lakewood) campus, and one vacancy is at the Puyallup campus.**

Campus Safety Officers provide for the safety and security of the College community by protecting college property, buildings, grounds, equipment, and other assets, located on campus grounds or other owned or leased property. This position takes and processes reports, obtains witness statements and conducts initial investigations of incidents, accidents, and complaints. Officers must be able to positively interact with a diverse campus community and have a service focus. Officers are required to respond to emergency and crisis situations within the capabilities and limits of the Department's authority. Officers are designated as "Essential Persons" and are required to report to work during emergencies. Campus Safety Officers report directly to the Campus Safety Sergeant and these positions require regular and consistent attendance.

Patrol on foot or in patrol vehicle to enforce institution laws and policies.
Inspect buildings and grounds for prowlers, damage, vandalism, or other crimes. Inspect doors and gates to ensure campus security.
Direct and regulate traffic and parking. Investigate accidents and crimes, administer first aid; issue citations for violations; gather evidence; locate witnesses; appear in court as required.
Operate communications equipment, answer telephone inquiries, take reports of incidents, inspect and operate alarms, access control, and video surveillance systems.
Assist law enforcement as needed.
Report crimes to law enforcement and secures crime scenes.
Act as a Clery Campus Security Authority.
Follow Pierce College District policies and procedures, Department policy and State law.
Receive and process lost and found property.
Control access to facilities; identify property damage, equipment malfunctions, utility failures, or any other unusual, dangerous or suspicious situation.
Responds to emergencies, accidents, altercations, alarms or disturbances; assists with evacuations and crowd control.
Assists the campus community by providing services such as vehicle unlocks, escorts, battery jumps, and building unlocks.
