What are the responsibilities and job description for the Breakfast & Fine Dining Cooks position at Pier House Restaurant?
The primary responsibility of a Culinary Team Member (line Cook, prep cook, pantry) is to assist in the preparation of meals as per food standards and recipes. The Culinary Team Member is responsible for creating meal portions, cleaning food, cooking meals and keeping a sanitized work area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure station is full and ready for service prior to opening; maintain sufficient levels of food on the line throughout service
- Prepare basic components of each dish using the provided recipes and standards as set by the Chef by utilizing the proper equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, etc.
- Memorize and utilize serving portion sizes and basic meal prep procedures
- Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes
- Ensure all prep areas, food storage areas and cooking areas meet the restaurant cleaning standards
- Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on the schedule created by the Chef
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chef
Job Requirements:
- 2-3 years of previous culinary experience; fine dining experience is a plus
- Must have a comprehensive understanding of cooking methods, ingredients and cooking equipment
- Ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills in order to communicate with both front of house and back of house employees
- Must be friendly and have a positive attitude
- Must follow all procedure manuals and safety regulations
- Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist and reach.
- Must be able to lift/pull/carry up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to heat, fumes and airborne particles
