Description : JOB PURPOSE : Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetricaloperations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He / she has anunderstanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He / she hasthe necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure andis constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the directionof a registered nurse.Qualifications : MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED : High School diploma or GED equivalent.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program OR has oneyear previous operating roomexperience as a Surgical / Delivery Room Technologist OR three years of experience providing directpatient care in a clinical setting.MINIMUM LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW : BLS required.ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : NRP is preferred.Preferred completion of a fetal monitoring workshop and an orientation to learn surgical asepsis
