What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Accounts & Applications Manager position at Pico Technology?
Your Role
As the Technical Accounts & Applications Manager (TAM) based in our Tyler, Texas office, you will operate at the vital intersection of high-level technical problem-solving and strategic relationship building. Reporting to President of the North America office, you won’t just manage accounts you will act as a deeply embedded technical consultant and innovation driver for our highest profile Tier-1 clients across Aerospace & Defense, Medical Devices, Automotive, and Advanced R&D. By speaking "engineer-to-engineer" with PhDs and R&D leads, you will identify critical engineering pain points, engineer custom solutions using Pico’s software-defined T&M platform, and build the long-term technical trust required to integrate our technology into their future product roadmaps.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as the primary technical expert for Tier-1 accounts, diagnosing complex engineering challenges, and proposing high-impact, custom hardware and software solutions.
- Embedding yourself within client R&D and engineering departments to identify new opportunities for collaboration and expansion across military, medical, and aerospace sectors.
- Building deep technical trust with client engineering teams to ensure Pico’s PC-based oscilloscopes, data loggers, and RF products are designed into their long-term project roadmaps.
- Developing and executing a targeted key account channel management program to successfully penetrate new customers and industries across the US market.
- Tailoring and adapting highly technical presentations and demonstrations for diverse sectors, ranging from life-saving medical tech to mission-critical defense systems.
- Bridging the gap between the client’s unique engineering needs and Pico’s internal capabilities to ensure seamless execution of custom applications.
What You’ll Need
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, data loggers, high-speed instrumentation, or RF systems.
- 3 to 5 years of success in an Applications Engineering, Field Engineering, or Technical Sales role, with a track record of working within R&D-heavy industries.
- Experience in applications relating to the design, development, and control of signal acquisition systems.
- The unique ability to communicate fluently and confidently with PhD-level researchers and R&D leads while maintaining a sharp, strategic business perspective.
- A natural, driven curiosity for how complex systems work and a passion for turning technical hurdles into functional realities.
- Demonstrated capability to proactively develop and execute new business opportunities to expand account footprints.
