Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Mechanical Design Engineer located at any of our offices; Parkersburg, WV, Charleston, WV, Fairmont, WV, Athens OH or Akron, OH. Pickering Associates has two (2) openings for a full-time Mechanical Engineer. One with an emphasis on plumbing design/engineering and one for heating-cooling-ventilation systems for various types of projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in design engineering for commercial and healthcare clients. Position requires thorough knowledge of AutoCAD suite of products.
General Responsibilities include:
- Thorough knowledge and use of codes and standards applicable to Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection design.
- Production of construction drawings and/or specifications.
- Work with a project team to complete design tasks within the directed scope, schedule, and budget.
- Perform detailed design using AutoCAD suite of products.
- Personal time management skills- the ability to work independently and as a team.
- Perform field measurements and investigations.
- (Possibility to) Lead internal project design team of multiple disciplines.
- Flexibility required to complete drawings using a multitude of client drafting standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Four (4) years or more of Mechanical and/or Plumbing design experience (highly preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Successfully passed NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) with goal to achieve professional licensure within 2 years.
• Proficient in 2D AutoCAD. REVIT experience is preferred.
• Effective communication and technical writing skills.
