General Statement of the Job
Under limited supervision and in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, this position supports the SDPC Department of Instructional Services’ initiatives and functions for the District at the secondary level. Serves as a member of the District Leadership Team.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates Secondary Professional Development for middle and high schools in SDPC
- Attendance at monthly board meetings and other district functions as needed
- Represents the district at various professional and community meetings as appropriate
- Effectively utilize data to make decisions and communicate with appropriate stakeholders
- Collaborates with the Associate Superintendent of Academic Services and Secondary Principals to establish an optimum learning environment within the district.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the school district, community, and the instructional services department.
- Ensures that innovation is embedded into different initiatives being implemented at the middle and high school level in SDPC
- Ensures that the SCTS 4.0 Rubric, Standards, Assessment, and Instruction are all aligned at the secondary level
- Provides educational leadership, administrative direction, supervision, and technical assistance and support to to librarians, guidance counselors, graduation coaches and instructional coaches at the district’s middle and high schools
- Ensures that appropriate personnel are providing necessary support for students in alignment with the district’s MTSS implementation
- Coordinates and supervises curriculum planning and implementation
- Collaborates with the Executive Director of Elementary Education and other relevant personnel to create positive transitions from 5th grade to 6th grade
- Collaborates with middle school and high school principals to foster a smooth transition from 8th to ninth grade for students in SDPC
- Collaborate with Special Services and ML program leaders to ensure alignment of services across the grade span
- Coordinates effective partnerships with Pickens County Career and Technology Center and SDPC Middle/High Schools to provide meaningful opportunities for students
- Establishes procedures for the evaluation and selection of quality instructional resources (i.e., textbooks, supplies, and equipment)
- Assists Associate Superintendent of Academic Services in presenting department objectives, program plans, and performance reports to the Superintendent and the Board of Education as needed;
- Continues to grow professionally through research and collaboration with colleagues
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
