What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Assistant position at Piccoli Dolci?
Piccoli Dolci (“Little Sweets”) is an Italian food business that produces authentic Italian specialties made from scratch. It is our passion to bring to Bloomington a taste of the Italian regional food culture and its unique ingredients. We do direct retail sales at our market-cafe, are vendors at the Woolery Farmer’s Market and Bloomington Winter Farmer’s Market, serve wholesale orders to a few locally-owned businesses in town, and we do some catering.
Our repertoire includes: - Italian pastries: cookies, tarts, Italian croissants, other specialty desserts
- Italian lunches: regional fresh pasta, gnocchi, and other specialties.
Job duties in the kitchen will include:
- learning and execution of recipes
- coordinating and overlooking at the flow-chart of tasks for daily/weekly production
- cleaning tasks following food safety Health Dept. standards
- set up and retail sales at farmers’ market and/or market-cafe
We are looking for a person that is:
- good team worker with leadership skills
- available to work regularly 30 hrs/ wk with some Friday evening & weekend availability
- quick learner and efficient worker within a fast-paced work environment
- has reliable transportation
- passionate about food, curious about different food cultures.
3 years of commercial kitchen experience preferred, at least 1 year is necessary. Manager/leadership experience preferred. Food handler certificate is a plus.
Hourly wage commensurate w/ experience ($15-18/hr PLUS tip share)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
