The Field Safety Representative will serve as a visible, boots-on-the-ground safety presence, ensuring Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance across jobsites. This role requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and the confidence to address unsafe conditions, enforce standards, and hold personnel accountable—all while fostering a proactive safety culture. Success in this role requires an analytical and detail-oriented mindset, the ability to work independently, and a genuine passion for protecting the wellbeing of coworkers in dynamic construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, document, and correct potential hazards and unsafe behaviors.
  • Initiate, perform, and document safety inspections and audits with a strong emphasis on hazard recognition, loss prevention, and workers’ compensation risk reduction.
  • Assist the Safety Manager with administrative and program support.
  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of construction safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to ensure effective communication of PIC safety expectations.
  • Ensure Project Safety Work Plans and Safety Task Assessments (STAs) are followed.
  • Coordinate and support the development and review of Safety Task Assessments for each major phase of work.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents, including injuries, near misses, and property damage, to identify root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to develop, review, and update emergency response plans.
  • Perform additional EHS-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years minimum experience in construction or manufacturing safety role.

  • Experience with incident and accident investigations.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA and FMCSA.
  • Must be OSHA 30 certified
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment in the field.
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be firm, fair, and consistent when enforcing safety requirements.
