What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse (LPN) position at PIC - Head Start/Early Head Start of Beaver County?
We are seeking a School Nurse to join our Head Start team, helping ensure that every child receives the health care, education, and support needed to thrive. This role plays an essential part in maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and providing compassionate, high-quality health services to children and their families.
What You’ll Do:
- Collect and track health assessments, screenings, and medical data to ensure timely delivery of services.
- Maintain and update both written and electronic health records for each enrolled child.
- Ensure all children are up to date on screenings, medical and dental exams, and immunizations.
- Develop and maintain Individual Care Plans for children with identified health concerns, coordinating with staff and families.
- Participate in staff and parent training sessions on health, safety, and nutrition.
- Support and educate families on the importance of health and nutrition in child development.
- Provide first aid and coordinate medical services as needed.
- Assist in case management meetings and promote effective communication among care teams.
- Maintain confidentiality while ensuring compliance with all Head Start health and safety standards.
What You Bring:
- Education: Minimum of LPN certification, or an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Experience: At least one (1) year of experience as an LPN, preferably with children ages 0–5.
- Strong problem-solving and independent judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, child health principles, and family education techniques.
- Ability to maintain accurate health records and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfort operating standard and specialized medical equipment.
- Valid PA driver’s license, insurance, reliable transportation, and current CPR certification.
- Must successfully complete all required background clearances.
