The Executive Chef is responsible for leading the culinary department. They oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory management, food preparation, and staff supervision. This position requires a strong culinary background, leadership skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards. The Executive Chef is in charge of all culinary operations and some of their duties include:
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
- Supervise/Lead the Culinary department
- Functional leader working side by side with the team
- Recruit/hire for the Culinary department
- Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards
- Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs
- Provide disciplinary action when necessary.
- Responsible for communicating to all departments about the restaurant.
- Responsible for assisting with the training of all team members to exceed in each of their positions
- Perform administrative duties
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Proven ability to train others and lead a team.
- Proficiency with computer systems, software, and programs.
- Strong planning and organizational skills to consistently organize workloads to meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient skills in math and financial management including labor and food cost controls.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding people skills
- Trustworthy and results-driven
- Must be available nights, weekends and/or holidays.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in a senior culinary leadership role
- Associate's Degree in culinary arts preferred or equivalent job-related experience.
