What are the responsibilities and job description for the Android QA Engineer position at Pi Square Technologies?
The ideal candidates will possess greater than 5 years professional experience in mobile QA. Will be responsible for providing daily manual quality assurance support for our client's native iOS and Android mobile applications. This role ensures product quality through rigorous test planning, regression testing, API validation, and specialized testing (security, accessibility, performance) aligned with bi-weekly release cadences. The QA Engineer works closely with mobile development teams and SDET counterparts to ensure every release meets the client's quality standards.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily quality assurance testing to support ongoing mobile development efforts
Execute regression testing in support of bi-weekly releases and ad-hoc releases
Validate upstream and downstream systems and APIs integrated with the mobile applications
Perform security, accessibility, and performance testing on native mobile apps
Develop comprehensive test plans aligned with feature development and release cycles
Test across both Golden Path and Non-Golden Path user scenarios
Log, track, and manage defects in JIRA; update test results in TestRails
Collaborate with SDETs to provide input on automation priorities
Participate in weekly/monthly progress reporting
Test on iOS 17.4 and Android 9 devices (native apps only — no mobile browser testing)
Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5 years of professional experience in mobile QA is acceptable.
Proven experience in manual QA testing for native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)
Strong knowledge of API testing and validation of integrated systems
Hands-on experience writing and executing test plans and test cases
Proficiency with TestRails for test management
Experience using JIRA for defect tracking and reporting
Working knowledge of regression testing methodologies and release cycles
Familiarity with security and accessibility testing on mobile platforms
Helpful Skills
Experience with performance testing tools for mobile applications
Exposure to Appium or other mobile automation frameworks
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how builds relate to QA cycles (e.g., Bitrise)
Experience with Confluence for documentation
Background in automotive, telematics, or connected vehicle applications
Relevant QA certifications (e.g., ISTQB) are a plus
