Overview
The Director will serve cooperatively with the alumni chapter advisor (Chapter Advisor) as a property manager; act as a correspondent to the House Corporation, as well as providing an adult presence in the fraternity house and a resource for the chapter. Selection of the Director shall be a joint decision between the Chapter Advisor, the chapter president (President), and House Corporation. The House Corporation shall have the final approval.

In addition to meeting any and all University of Missouri requirements concerning live-in House Directors/House Parents in Greek housing, Chapter seeks to fill a position that will benefit the chapter by having an experienced adult living in the chapter house (House) who can provide the chapter with guidance, support and leadership development. The position will allow the Director the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with a fraternity, managing property, handling conflict resolution, conducting group activities, workshops. The Director should not only become familiar with the Chapter but also with the University of Missouri and its Fraternity and Sorority Life Office (individually or collectively the University) and the resources and support services available to students. The final purpose is to bring stability and continuity to Chapter operations and to support the interests of the Alpha Nu Building Company (House Corporation).

Duties

1. Director will reside in the House during academic semesters.

2. Maintain a relationship with the Chapter that will promote a healthy living environment.

3. Encourage responsible conduct in the Chapter, foster an awareness of University regulations, assist in developing standards for the living environment of the House and work in cooperation with the Chapter officers and alumni advisors.

4. Be a resource and counselor to members, connecting members to professional help when necessary.

5. Understand the risk management policies of the University, Fraternity and Chapter.

6. Encourage and promote leadership of the Chapter officers and members.

7. Encourage and promote academic achievement.

8. Take inventory at the beginning and end of each semester of property in the common rooms/areas of the chapter house.

9. Communicate serious problems to the Chapter Advisor and House Corporation within 24 hours of identification of a problem.

10. Communicate any problem concerning any House Corporation property to the Chapter Advisor and House Corporation within 24 hours of identification of any problem concerning House Corporation property.

11. Meet weekly with the President.

12. Meet at least monthly with the Chapter Advisor.

13. Attend House Corporation meetings upon request of the House Corporation.

14. Assist housing managers in overseeing maintenance and cleanliness of the House.

15. Maintain a roster of members of the Chapter. For those living in the House, maintain records of occupants by room. Administer and maintain records of the key fob access system key fob assignments.

16. Inspect and monitor the condition of the common areas of the House, as well as the furniture and property of the House Corporation. In coordination with the Chapter Advisor, use the damage deposits to promptly repair any unclaimed damages caused by mistreatment or neglect of the chapter.

17. Supervise, in coordination with the Food Service Provider (Food Service Provider), the operations of the kitchen.

18. Assist the chapter treasurer (Treasurer) and housing manager(s) (House Managers) to track headcounts for meals and to monitor compliance with meal plan elections by out-of-house members.

19. Consult with and assist as necessary the local accountant and Treasurer in oversight of the budget of the House Manager and Food Service Provider to insure the accuracy and proper handling of the account and budget.

20. Consult with Food Service Provider on menu planning and hold Food Service Provider accountable for fulfilling their duties.

21. Preside in the dining room at dinner and formal occasions.

22. Assist in the development and implementation of etiquette training for all members.

23. See that the chapter has a “parents club” and/or has regularly scheduled events for parents, and work with the person the chapter assigns to such duties to make sure such program is active.

24. Other expectations as deemed necessary by the Chapter Advisor and/or House Corporation and as agreed with Director.

25. Keep information identified by the Chapter as confidential as such.

26. Help the Chapter comply with Chapter by-laws, University rules and regulations, local, state and federal laws.

27. Serve as Surveillance Camera Coordinator along with Chapter Advisor, acting in accordance with Surveillance Camera Policy (attached)

Qualifications

Previous experience in hospitality, property management, student affairs, or Greek life are highly valued.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Ability to manage a varied schedule of daily, weekly or monthly tasks.

Ability to work independently and efficiently while reporting to the Board.

Ability to interact with large student population, managing house rules, member conduct and foster a positive living/learning environment.

Excellent verbal, written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills .

Strong problem-solving, conflict management skills, positive solution-focused attitude.

Experience with budgeting and vendor coordination.

Strong leadership, integrity, approachability, discretion/confidentiality

Ability to serve as a role model.

Ability to lift 20 lbs

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Documents, and computer skills required.

Effective communication with university partners, alumni, and parents.

Must live in the chapter house, often requiring 24/7 availability during school terms.

High School diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred

Pay: $42,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
