About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, creative, and self-motivated Director, Global Events to join a leading financial services organization's Marketing team for a contracting role. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished events professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing multiple high-profile initiatives simultaneously. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional project management skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization. In this role, you will lead the planning and execution of in-person and virtual events while supporting broader marketing initiatives. You'll partner with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and executive leadership to deliver best-in-class event experiences that reinforce company culture, strengthen client engagement, and drive measurable business results.
*Willingness to travel approximately 20%, including occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of regional meetings, symposiums, product launches, conferences, trade shows, and client hospitality events.
- Manage both in-person and virtual events from concept through execution.
- Oversee event logistics including venue sourcing, speaker management, meeting space coordination, hospitality, and registrations.
- Develop and manage event marketing timelines, invitations, collateral, promotional materials, room blocks, and giveaway inventory.
- Build and maintain event registration pages and virtual event platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and ON24.
- Track event metrics, analyze ROI, and provide post-event reporting and recommendations.
- Manage relationships with vendors, event partners, Corporate Communications, Marketing, Sales, Corporate Travel, and other key stakeholders.
- Negotiate with trade show vendors to secure booth locations, sponsorship opportunities, and marketing initiatives.
- Maintain trade show assets, event inventory, and premium merchandise programs.
- Coordinate pre-event planning meetings and post-event debriefs to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and overall event quality while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Support additional marketing initiatives, research projects, and internal meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of event planning and execution experience, preferably within financial services.
- Proven experience managing conferences, trade shows, executive meetings, and client events.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience negotiating with vendors and managing external event partners.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong budgeting and financial management experience.
- Experience collaborating with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with event registration platforms, attendee management systems, and virtual event technology.
- Strategic mindset with a passion for creating exceptional event experiences and continuously improving event performance.
- Self-starter who is solutions-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
