What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior BI Developer position at Physicians Mutual?
Physicians Mutual is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join our Enterprise Technology Group.
As a Senior BI Developer, you’ll design, build, and support advanced business intelligence solutions while ensuring a stable and high-performing BI environment. You’ll collaborate with business and technology teams to define requirements, deliver intuitive dashboards, optimize data workflows, and contribute to the organization’s long-term BI strategy. This role also includes Tableau administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support dashboards and reports using Tableau, SQL, and Python.
- Monitor Tableau performance, diagnose and resolve performance issues, and coordinate with system teams to ensure stability.
- Participate in system upgrade testing, validating functionality and communicating changes to business users.
- Integrate and manage data from multiple systems into Tableau for BI use.
- Collaborate with business and technology partners to define requirements and deliver insights.
- Troubleshoot data and reporting issues, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Support and enhance existing BI solutions and mentor others on BI best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math/Statistics, Analytics, or related field with 8 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience in BI development.
- Strong SQL and Tableau skills, including Tableau Prep. Working knowledge of Python.
- Tableau administration experience required.
- Experience with Snowflake, Tableau Cloud and leading change for optimal performance and scalability preferred.
- Familiarity with Project management and version control tools and change management processes is a plus.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
