We’re looking for a Manager of Re-Rating to lead a team responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellence in our health product rate filings and analysis.
This leadership role plays a vital part in shaping pricing strategies and driving process optimization. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of re-rating systems, regulatory requirements, and data analysis, along with the ability to lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the Re-Rating team responsible for compiling and analyzing product experience, filing annual rate and refund filings, and recommending rate actions.
- Establish quality and productivity standards for rate justification exhibits.
- Drive process optimization and automation, leveraging your understanding of current systems and regulations to recommend and implement improvements.
- Partner with data manager (s) to ensure changes to existing blocks of business are implemented accurately and validated effectively.
- Oversee the integration of new business blocks into existing systems and processes, ensuring consistency and control.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain robust controls throughout the re-rating and reporting processes.
- Lead the development and automation of actuarial memorandums, supplements, exhibits, and certifications required for filings.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal teams, leadership, and state insurance departments, and confidently handling escalations, objections, and complex rate discussions to reach effective resolutions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on rate filings, providing guidance and insight across departments.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Finance, or a related field (required).
- 5 years of experience with health insurance products or equivalent background, or 3 years as Re-Rating Analyst and Lead Re-Rating Analyst.
- Proven leadership skills in developing, motivating, and managing analysts to achieve team goals and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude with the ability to interpret complex data and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Excel, data analytics software, actuarial systems, including NAIC resources and SERFF filing systems for rate and compliance management.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in internal and external discussions.
- Thorough understanding of premium, claims data, actuarial concepts, and inflationary insurance products.
- Demonstrated ability to balance company objectives with regulatory considerations in rate decision-making.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
