Position Summary
Physicians Group of Southeastern Ohio (PGSEO) is a physician-led network supporting independent primary care practices across Southeastern Ohio. PGSEO provides centralized services including billing operations, financial reporting, and value-based care support to help physicians operate sustainable and high-performing practices.
The Controller is a senior financial leader and key member of PGSEO’s executive leadership team. This role is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting, while supporting strategic decision‑making for the organization. The Controller partners closely with the CEO and external advisors to ensure financial integrity, transparency, regulatory compliance, and long‑term financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee the general ledger, chart of accounts, and all core accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
· Prepare, manage, and support the annual operating budget in collaboration with the CEO.
· Analyze monthly financial results compared to budget, identify trends and variances, and present findings to executive leadership.
· Develop and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts; monitor bank and investment accounts to ensure adequate liquidity.
· Analyze overhead costs and develop data‑driven recommendations for billing fee adjustments charged to member practices.
· Prepare and distribute timely, accurate month‑end and year‑end financial statements for management.
· Process biweekly payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable employment and payroll regulations.
· Administer reimbursements to shareholders and Board members for approved administrative and committee activities in accordance with internal policies.
· Lead responses to audits, regulatory inquiries, and compliance reviews; maintain strong internal controls, policies, and documentation.
· Develop and publish monthly productivity, billing, and key performance indicator (KPI) reports to support operational accountability and performance improvement.
· Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO and leadership team, proactively identifying financial risks, opportunities, and strategic considerations.
· Collaborate with leadership to address shareholder and physician concerns related to financial reporting, billing practices, and accounting procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
· Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or CPA designation preferred.
· Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in organizations with multiple legal entities.
· Prior experience in healthcare, physician practice management, or value‑based care environments strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
· Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
· High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to transparency and accountability.
