What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Barista position at PHX Cat Cafe?
Must be able to work every weekend. Must be able to work Thursdays 2:15-6:30pm, Fridays 2:15-8:30pm, Saturdays 2:15-8:30pm every single week with the potential for longer hours on event nights.
Must have minimum 1 yr barista experience to be considered.
We are looking for an employee who plans to stay with the company for 1 yr minimum.
The Purrista is the face of PHX Cat Cafe. You're the first person they see and interact with and are a fountain of information about our non profit.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers as they enter
- Check in customers for cat lounge reservations
- Take reservations for walk-in customers
- Take, ring up, prepare and serve coffee orders
- Answer general questions about the cat cafe
- The Purrista will NOT be interacting with the cats in the lounge in order to keep cat care and beverage preparation separate. Potential for cross training for the right candidate.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Must have previous barista experience in a coffee shop, and be familiar with preparing various specialty coffee drinks (cappuccinos, lattes, espressos, etc.)
- Retail experience a plus
- Must love cats, even though you will not be interacting with them during your shift everyone that comes into the cafe is a cat lover and we need someone who is enthusiastic to talk about cats with customers as they are being greeted
- Great customer service - Should be comfortable and friendly with customers
- Have a cool head on your shoulders - Able to handle multiple customers during busy times
- Great communication skills - Since you'll be the first person customers see, you'll guide many guests through their first visit to a cat café.
- Technologically savvy - Should be comfortable learning to use multiple apps, including point-of-sale and reservations
- Must be available to work every weekend. Ideal candidate will also have flexibility for coverage Thursdays-Sundays.
