What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Barista position at PHX Cat Cafe?
PHX Cat Cafe is hiring an experienced BARISTA for our Downtown Phoenix location. This is a barista-only position.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of previous barista experience in a coffee shop and is comfortable preparing specialty coffee drinks including lattes, cappuccinos, and espresso drinks.
You will be the first point of contact for our guests and an important part of creating a welcoming experience at PHX Cat Cafe. While you will answer questions about the cafe and our nonprofit, you will not be responsible for handling, caring for, or interacting with the cats during your shift.
Minimum 1 year of previous barista experience is required to be considered.
We are looking for someone who plans to stay with the company for at least 1 year.
Schedule
The shifts we are currently looking to fill are below:
- We offer 2 or 3 shifts per week- each shift approximately 4-6 hrs
- Currently we are hiring for our closing shifts which are Thursday 2:15-6:30, Friday 2:15-8:30, Saturday 2:15-8:30, Sunday 2:15-6:30, Monday 2:15-6:30.
- Barista would work consecutive shifts at either beginning or end of our week, just weekend shifts are not an option.
- We do not offer full time positions.
- Additional shifts may be available based on business needs (events) and availability
- Ideal candidates will have flexibility to cover additional shifts Thursday–Monday
Barista Responsibilities
- Greet customers as they enter the cafe
- Check guests in for cat lounge reservations
- Take reservations for walk-in customers
- Take, ring up, prepare, and serve coffee and beverage orders
- Prepare specialty coffee drinks including lattes, cappuccinos, and espresso drinks
- Operate the point-of-sale system
- Answer general questions about PHX Cat Cafe and our nonprofit
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service
- Keep the bar and customer-facing areas clean and organized
Important: This is a Barista-Only Position
About the Role
The Purrista is the face of PHX Cat Cafe. You'll welcome guests, help them navigate their visit, prepare their drinks, and answer questions about our cafe and nonprofit.
You don't need to be a cat-care professional for this job — we're looking for a skilled, experienced barista who enjoys working with people and is excited to be part of a cat cafe environment.
