PRESNow nurses play a vital role in providing rapid, high-quality care in critical situations. Here are the core responsibilities you can expect in this role: Triage and assessment Quickly evaluate incoming patients to determine severity of illness or injury and prioritize care accordingly. Monitor vital signs and patient status Regularly check and record vitals (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature) and monitor any changes to detect early signs of deterioration. Medication administration and treatments Administer medications—including IVs, blood products, or prescribed therapies—ensuring correct dosing and timely delivery per physician orders. Diagnostic testing and interpretation Perform or assist with lab draws, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures; gather and interpret results to inform care decisions. Documentation and charting Accurately document patient histories, interventions, responses, vital signs, and discharge instructions—maintaining compliance with legal and hospital standards. Patient and family communication Provide clear information, emotional support, and education while maintaining professionalism and empathy. Infection control and department upkeep Maintain hygiene standards, properly clean and restock equipment, and ensure a safe environment to minimize infection risks.
