Photo-Sonics, Inc. is an international leader in state-of-the art optical tracking systems in Chatsworth and has an immediate opening for a Production Control Supervisor. We’re seeking a multi-disciplinary candidate who is self-motivated and is able to set and meet goals.
We are seeking an experienced Production Control Supervisor to join our Production Control team. This position will lead daily production scheduling, work order release, and execution tracking to ensure output aligns with the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and customer demand. This position serves as the operational bridge between planning and shop execution, ensuring schedules are realistic, materials are aligned, and capacity constraints are proactively managed.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Planning & Scheduling
· Develop and manage detailed production schedules aligned with the approved MPS
· Monitor schedule adherence and adjust priorities as needed
· Optimize resource utilization
· Manage backlog and WIP control
Work Order Release
· Own and control the Work Order Release process to ensure production execution is accurate, timely, and aligned with business priorities
· Release work orders in accordance with the approved MPS
· Enforce frozen planning windows for production programs
· Prioritize releases based on customer demand and business urgency
ERP & Configuration Control
· Ensure ERP system reflects accurate production status
· Verify correct BOM revision prior to release
· Confirm routing accuracy and labor standards
· Ensure ECNs/ECOs are implemented before work order release
Inventory & Material Coordination
· Monitor inventory levels and material readiness
· Coordinate material requirements with the Materials team
· Support inbound/outbound logistics as required
· Prevent shortage-driven production interruptions
Supervision & Leadership
· Lead, mentor, and coach production control personnel
· Standardize planning processes and workload prioritization
· Manage team performance and development
Operational Excellence
· Implement lean planning practices
· Analyze production data and identify process improvements
· Reduce schedule volatility and reactive replanning
· Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Shop Supervisors to resolve production constraints
· Support smooth prototype-to-production transitions
Risk Identification & Escalation
· Identify material, configuration, or capacity risks prior to release
· Escalate potential schedule impacts early
· Provide mitigation options to leadership
· Performance Management
Track and report key production control KPIs:
· Schedule adherence
· On-time completion
· Past-due work orders
· Production lead time
· Shortage-driven delays
Experience and Requirements:
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
· Equivalent combination of education and relevant production control experience may be considered.
Experience:
· Minimum 5–7 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
· At least 2–3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Experience supporting prototype, low-volume, or complex electromechanical assemblies preferred.
· Experience working in AS9100 / ISO 9001 regulated environments is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Strong knowledge of production planning, capacity planning, scheduling, and shop floor control.
· Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
· Ability to interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and work orders.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for production planning, scheduling analysis, data reporting, and development of dashboards, pivot tables, and data-driven performance metrics.
· Leadership & Operational Skills
· Ability to lead and develop production control staff, including planners and schedulers.
· Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams.
· Proven ability to manage priorities and resolve schedule conflicts in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills related to production flow and material availability.
· Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
· Ability to analyze production data and implement process improvements.
· Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and KPI tracking preferred
