What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Collections Photographer & Photo Organizer position at Photo Archivers?
Photo Archivers helps families and institutions organize, digitize, and preserve meaningful photo collections using archival best practices. We do hands-on, detail-driven work for clients who feel overwhelmed by decades of photos—and we take that responsibility seriously. We’re a small, close-knit team looking for a technically skilled photographer, organized, and curious—a team member who wants to grow with us.
This role starts with photo digitization (copy stand/collections photography, Lightroom work, file management) and can grow into broader project responsibility over time.
- Digitize prints, slides, negatives, and artwork using professional workflows
- Use Adobe Lightroom Classic for image processing, cropping, and metadata
- Work closely with a small team to deliver high-quality client projects
- Learn and contribute to efficient, repeatable systems
- Take pride in the careful handling of irreplaceable materials
- Are comfortable with cameras, manual settings, and lighting
- Have strong technical organizational skills (and enjoy precision work)
- Like working with systems, patterns, and efficient workflows
- Enjoy learning, problem-solving, and doing work that truly matters
- Want to stay and grow with a small business—not just “pick up hours”
- Part-time: 21–30 hours/week
- Schedule: 3–4 consecutive days (likely 3 to start), Mon–Thurs, 9am–4pm
- Pay: starting at $20/hour
- Location: In-person only (Columbia, MD)
- No health benefits; schedule flexibility offered
If you’re detail-oriented, technically capable, and excited by meaningful, hands-on work, we’d love to hear from you.
