JOB TITLE: Water Treatment/Belt Press Operator
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Individuals for this position should have intermediate-level experience as a water operator or belt press operator. They will be responsible for operation of our water treatment and distribution systems. Job responsibilities involve the maintenance and repair of the treatment equipment, including a belt press. Technicians will also be expected to perform field sampling and testing with the ability to understand the required water quality parameters and make adjustments to the chemical feeds as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Record operational data from meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
· Operate a belt press.
· Clean and maintain tanks, filter beds, and other work areas, using hand tools and power tools.
· Collect and test water samples, using test equipment and color analysis standards.
· Maintain, repair, and lubricate equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
· Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water.
· Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
· Ability to monitor and interpret results from testing procedures and report deviations to supervisors in a timely fashion
· Assist with chemical inventory tracking and lab supplies on site as needed.
· Work with chemical suppliers to ensure chemical offloading is complete and any issues resolved immediately
· Ensure compliance to all Federal and State regulations
· Provide effective communication with support staff and managers.
· Boating experience a plus!
REQUIREMENTS:
· Associate’s Degree or vocational/ technical training is strongly desired
· A knowledge of College Algebra is strongly preferred
· Basic computer competency with Office Products
· At least 2-5 years directly related experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial equipment (pumps), or in water treatment.
· Must work well with minimal supervision
· Current OSHA 10 or greater certification required
· Available for 12 hour shifts: day or night shift
· Must be comfortable working outside in various weather conditions and around wetlands and wildlife
WORK CONDITIONS:
· Water Treatment Plant Environment on a Wildlife Trail.
