Job Description
PDW is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Phone & IT Systems Technician to join our growing team. This position will focus heavily on business phone systems, voice technologies, and customer communications infrastructure, while also supporting a variety of IT environments and managed services.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, troubleshooting, customer interaction, and learning a broad range of technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong IT foundation and an interest in expanding into voice and telecom systems. Training and mentorship will be provided by senior technicians with decades of industry experience.
At PDW, we support businesses throughout the Treasure Valley with voice systems, networking, cybersecurity, structured cabling, and managed IT services. No two days are the same, and our technicians play a critical role in keeping our customers connected and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support business phone systems and voice technologies.
- Assist with VoIP deployments, handset installations, programming changes, and user training.
- Support network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot IT issues involving desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and cloud services.
- Perform on-site and remote technical support for clients.
- Assist with structured cabling projects and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Maintain documentation, service notes, and client records accurately.
- Collaborate with dispatch and internal teams to ensure timely and professional service delivery.
- Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
- Continue developing technical skills across both telecom and IT disciplines.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in IT support, telecommunications, networking, or a related technical role.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Experience working with Windows environments and Microsoft 365.
- Ability to learn and adapt to voice/telecom technologies.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with VoIP or business phone systems.
- Familiarity with firewalls, switches, and wireless networking.
- Experience with structured cabling or low-voltage systems.
- Knowledge of Active Directory and virtualization platforms.
- Experience with managed service environments.
- Understanding of IT security best practices.
Preferred Education & Certifications
- Associate degree or higher in a technology-related field is a plus.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , Microsoft, WatchGuard, or telecom-related certifications are a plus.
