The Genetic Counselor:
- Assesses individual or family risk for a variety of inherited conditions, such as cancer, cardiovascular, and genetic disorders.
- Offers risk management services.
- Provides genetic counseling services to pregnant women, couples planning a pregnancy, couples who are at risk for having a baby with genetic condition, or women who have experienced pregnancy loss among others.
- Recruits patients for high risk assessment programs and facilitates appropriate research enrollment.
- Provides community outreach and participates in collaborative research projects, program meetings, and program development.

Qualifications
Education Requirements
- Master's Degree
- Prior experience as a Genetic Counselor preferred
- Certification by the American Board of Genetics Counseling (or eligible for certification)
- Licensed to practice in the State of Pennsylvania as a Genetic Counselor or has successfully attained a temporary provisional Genetic Counselor License with the intent to sit for the ABGC examination within 90 days of hire or applied for license in the state of Pennsylvania
