Title: Mechanical Testing - Project Engineer
Location: GE Transportation (A Wabtec Company); Erie, PA
Job Description:
The role is responsible for the engineering of testing for components in preliminary design thru to reliability analysis for legacy components. The engineer will establish test scope, delivery timing, and compliance . The Engineer will interface with respective departments and local suppliers to execute assigned projects. The candidate should have a solid engineering background and proven experience with leading various testing and design of test projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities to include development of concept design, detailed design, and design analysis for test parameters.
- Act as the technical authority for assigned projects at GE Transportation test facilities.
- Ownership of stated technical/cost/reliability/performance deliverables of assigned mechanical tests.
- Interactions will include component engineering teams; systems engineering; and 3rd party tooling shops in Erie, PA and global sites.
- Help manage and write test requests in overall support of the test lab.
- Support review and approval of test fixturing designs developed in-house and at 3rd party for mechanical testing of components.
- Participate in Tollgate level technical design reviews.
- Supports the advanced testing of mechanical components.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Experience with GD&T, general mfg processes, tooling and Six Sigma.
- Knowledge of mechanical design and advanced manufacturing processes.
- Experience working in ANSYS/COSMOS and/or other commercially available FEA programs as well as 3D modeling (UG or Solid Works), a plus.
- Knowledge of Reliability data analysis through statistical modeling.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent related technical experience.
