Daycare Center Aide 1

Position Summary

The Learning Center Aide 1 supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children. This role assists with supervision, daily routines, and classroom activities under the direct oversight of a qualified teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in supervising and caring for a group of children.
• Support daily activities, such as learning projects, playtime, meals, and transitions.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
• Accompany children to the restroom when required.
• Provide minor first aid under the guidance of qualified staff.
• Assist in monitoring and caring for children who become ill until they are picked up.
• Follow all center policies and Oregon Administrative Rules for certified child care centers.
• Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and positive communication with children, families, and staff.

Qualifications:

Aide I Requirements-

• Must be at least 14 years old.
• Must complete required orientation and initial training per OAR 4143050370.

Supervision Requirements (per OAR 414-305-0350 and 414-305-0400)

• If under 18 years old:
• Must remain within sight AND sound of a qualified teacher or Aide II at all times when with children.
• May not ever be left alone with a child or group of children.
• If 18 years or older:
• Must remain within sight OR sound of a qualified teacher or Aide II when supervising children, except when:
• Accompanying a child or group of children to the bathroom.
• Supervising a child who is separated from the group.
• Supporting classrooms during rest time when resttime ratios apply (OAR 4143050400).
