Phoenix Rising FC is passionate about growing soccer in Arizona and understands the impact sports can have within the community. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of coming up with creative story pitches and a confident writer. The digital content assistant will contribute web stories for phxrisingfc.com on a consistent basis throughout the 2026 season, with opportunities to interview players for feature stories as applicable. This is an UNPAID position. This candidate is expected to contribute multiple stories a month, ranging from match previews to web-based profiles and other feature stories. Flexible in both location and hours, candidates for this position based in the Phoenix, Arizona, area will be prioritized (although not required). ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Brainstorm, pitch and execute digital/web stories for phxrisingfc.com.
- Contribute multiple stories a month to drive traffic to the club website (features, listicles, sidebar-style stories).
- Assist with boosting web traffic centered around weekly content initiatives.
- Help write match previews on a weekly basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong, confident writer.
- Self-starter and able to come up with multiple strong story ideas.
- Capable of taking initiative when working on a story.
- Good time management.
- Able to conduct interviews effectively and confidently.
- Can write on deadline.
- Consistent.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with sensitive information.
PREFERENCES:
- The ideal candidate will have a degree in communications, journalism, writing or other related field.
- Past writing experience.
- Can confidently write both quick stories as well as web features (profiles, sidebars, etc).
- Familiarity with Phoenix Rising FC. Knowledge of international and American soccer culture.
- Bilingual abilities (English with Spanish).
