Controller – Construction Accounting
Location: Miami, Florida (Onsite)
Phoenix Pro Connect is working with a fast-growing and highly stable organization in Miami that is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function and support the financial management of multiple construction projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong accounting leader who enjoys being deeply involved in operations, project financials, and strategic financial planning within a dynamic construction environment. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing job cost accounting, and providing financial insights that support continued company growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the month-end close process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Oversee job cost accounting and percentage-of-completion accounting across multiple projects
• Prepare and review financial statements and provide analysis to leadership
• Manage and record journal entries, accruals, cost allocations, and project billings
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes and provide financial insight to operational teams
• Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and reconciliations
• Partner with project management teams to monitor project costs, profitability, and financial performance
• Assist with audit preparation and tax support as needed
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and established accounting policies
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 7 years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Experience leading or supporting month-end close and financial statement preparation
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• CPA preferred but not required
• Experience with Sage or similar ERP systems strongly preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills

Salary : $145,000 - $175,000
