Production General Helper

Riverbend Industries (RBI) is a private family-owned portfolio holding company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The portfolio is primarily comprised of several small, independently operated, previously family-run businesses in the light manufacturing and distribution sectors. The portfolio is a long-term holder of its investments/assets and plans to grow both organically and through acquisitions into the near future.

We are currently looking for General Helpers to join our company who demonstrate excellent quality, production, teamwork and safety!

Position Summary:

The General Helper is responsible for supporting the assembly of evaporative coolers within a manufacturing environment. This role assists with various tasks such as material handling, component preparation, basic assembly, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow standard work procedures and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the assembly of evaporative coolers according to production specifications and quality standards.
• Prepare and stage materials and components for assembly lines.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment to support assembly tasks.
• Perform basic quality checks to ensure parts and finished units meet required standards.
• Maintain clean and safe working areas in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards.
• Support machine operators and assembly technicians as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with loading/unloading parts or finished goods and moving items between departments.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to help reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Ability to properly assemble parts and sub-assemblies and performs final tests.
• Must be able to complete repetitious assemblies.
• Must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities as a General Helper.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty efficiently, safely and in an acceptable manner
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus!
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; follow written and/or verbal orders; read, write, speak and comprehend English.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
