Phoenix Management Solutions delivers shared administrative support services to a nationwide network of intermodal transportation carriers and a leading transportation brokerage firm. Our team is growing, and we are hiring an Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Manager to work with our brokerage support team.
The manager will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the A/P and A/R functions for KTI, LLC, a transportation brokerage firm. This position is responsible for managing accounting staff, ensuring adherence to established processes, and maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong people management skills, a process-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate with both on-site and remote teams.
Team Leadership and Management
• Supervise, train, and support the accounts payable and receivable team, including on-site and remote employees.
• Establish clear performance expectations and conduct regular feedback and coaching sessions.
• Promote accountability, professional growth, and a collaborative team environment.
Financial Operations and Process Management
• Manage day-to-day operations of accounts payable and receivable, including collections and vendor/carrier relationships.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end closings, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Monitor accounting processes for compliance, accuracy, and efficiency, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with KTI account managers and leadership to resolve payment issues and maintain positive financial relationships.
Cross-Company Collaboration and Communication
• Act as the primary accounting point of contact for KTI while being employed and managed by Phoenix Management Solutions.
• Balance the financial service needs of KTI with Phoenix’s operational standards and policies.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with leadership teams in both organizations to ensure alignment and transparency.
Governance and Continuous Improvement
• Implement and maintain accounting controls and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Recommend process improvements and assist in the implementation of new accounting tools or systems.
• Support financial analyses and projects as assigned by executive or senior management.
Required Skills and Competencies
• Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams, including remote staff.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and accountability.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with NetSuite and Salesforce preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with multiple stakeholders.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, college coursework required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years supervising A/P and A/R processes and employees.
• Experience in the logistics, transportation brokerage, or intermodal industry strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting multi-state operations is a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. without assistance.
• Ability to walk up one flight of stairs, stand, bend, and stoop while accessing files.
• Must be able to maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced, occasionally noisy environment.
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
