ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to all components of the above position summary the following Essential Duties and Responsibilities are essential to successful performance in this position.

  1. Review and approve staff documentation relating to program delivery, time records, participant records, time records, leave requests, and other programmatic documentation.
  2. Provides quality assurance and improvement in all areas of programming, including documentation, group, and educational services.
  3. Collect data, complete and submit required reports accurately and in a timely fashion to assure contract compliance and quality service with expectations of Phoenix House training department to maintain staff professional growth and development through training, seminars, and workshops.
  4. Provide supervision and oversight of required documentation in accordance with the expectations of Phoenix House, professional, and state licensing standards.
  5. Observes prevention services provided to ensure that appropriate curricula, best practices, and methods are being used and that high-quality services are being delivered. Provides coaching as needed to develop prevention specialist's skills and improve the quality of services.
  6. Provide supervision to the team on the delivery of services, procedures, documentation, program implementation, professional ethics, and standards of conduct.
  7. Provide training and supervision to Prevention Specialists in the area of classroom management techniques, procedures, curricula delivery, curricula design, programming, professional ethics, and standards of conduct.
  8. Monitor program expenditures to ensure compliance with established budgets and contract guidelines.
  9. Responsible for performance management of team members to include hiring, training, coaching, professional development, performance evaluation, and general supervision.
  10. Attends and conducts team meetings and assures that effective prevention protocols and practices are followed, and reviews program progress for monitoring fidelity to curricula and effectiveness of the program.
  11. Ability to assist in the development of proposals with writing, community support, and linkages as needed.
  12. Promote clear, direct, and healthy staff communication patterns.
  13. Ensures participation of all staff in required training and continuing education courses related to area(s) of specialization to remain current in the field and compliance with training requirements.
  14. Ensures opportunities for cross-functional training of staff.
  15. Conducts and attends required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements, including new staff training.
  16. Presents, facilitates and co-facilitates various groups, individual, family, and public education presentations.
  17. Coordinates and facilitates activities that include meals, snacks, field trips, arts & crafts projects, and sports activities in support of effective and quality program delivery.
  18. Promote and utilize research-based curriculum for youth according to contract specifications to ensure fidelity to the model curriculum Attend all required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements. Conduct required staff training sessions as assigned, including new staff training.
  19. Conduct crisis intervention, substance abuse screenings, assessments, or referrals when needed.
  20. Form relationships and linkages with organizations in the local community to develop community resources, market, publicize, and integrate Phoenix House services.
  21. Plans all work steps to ensure success; consider time, supplies, and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up a work plan and completing duties.
  22. Attend and participate in a local school, community, staff, and other meetings in accordance with program needs.
  23. Adhere to the professional ethics and conduct of standards as established by professional licensure and PH policies.
  24. Attends all required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements, completes all training on time.
  25. Attends and participates in program and all staff meetings.
  26. Adheres to and promotes the Phoenix House Mission, Vision, and Values while acting as a role model for others.
  27. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent in this position supervises lower-level staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

  • Degree in education, social work or related field or equivalent experience.
  • CPS, LCDC, LPC or LMSW, or other professional counseling license preferred.
  • Two years' experience working with youth in chemical dependency prevention, intervention, or treatment field preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid Drivers' License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy.

  • Skills and ability to engage and develop a rapport with patients and families of various backgrounds
  • Ability to use effective leadership skills in daily interactions, planning, and delegation of duties
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
