Job Description
The Industrial Painter is responsible for the proper handling, preparation, and coating of all shop-fabricated materials prior to delivery to field operations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare steel materials for coating using approved surface preparation methods
- Apply zinc and multi-component primers using industrial airless spray equipment (Graco Quiet Kings, Titan)
- Operate overhead bridge cranes to load, move, and position heavy steel components safely
- Use proper rigging techniques when handling steel plate and assemblies
- Maintain sprayers, hoses, and related painting equipment for optimal performance
- Inspect surfaces before and after painting to ensure full coverage and quality standards are met
- Work closely with Shop Supervisors and team members to meet production schedules
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious work environment
- Assist with general shop duties as needed
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs (up to 100 lbs with assistance)
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or climb throughout the workday
- Ability to climb on and off trailers or trucks for loading/unloading
- Visual abilities including depth perception, color accuracy, and close-range focus
Work Environment
- Exposure to non-weather heat, dust, paint fumes, and airborne particles
- May work indoors and occasionally outdoors depending on project needs
- Moderate to loud noise levels depending on work zone and equipment
