Centrally manages district-wide safety protocols, custodial operations, and hazardous material compliance. This role ensures a safe, clean, and regulatory-compliant environment for students and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Custodial Leadership & Standards
- Directly manage and oversee the Custodial Supervisor and all district-wide custodial staff.
- Act as a central resource for individual schools to assist with cleaning standards, performance evaluations, and the selection of new staff.
- Establish and maintain district-wide custodial service standards to ensure a clean environment for students and staff.
Safety & Security Infrastructure
- Maintain full operational responsibility for all Fire and Security Systems across the District.
- Oversee and execute critical security strategies, including protocols for evacuations, lockdowns, and reunifications.
Regulatory Compliance
- Manage compliance with OSHA, EPA, and AHERA regulations, specifically focusing on water cleanliness, radon, and asbestos.
- Serve as the Project Supervisor for all abatement projects.
- Ensure all required medical records and training logs are accurately maintained.
Emergency Response & Planning
- Lead the District Safety Committee and participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Perform regular safety audits and annual facility assessments for every site within the district.
Interagency Liaison
- Serve as the primary representative and point of contact for the fire department, police, and other government agencies regarding facility security and safety.
Auxiliary Responsibilities
- Maintains operational flexibility to address emerging needs and performs other related professional duties as assigned to ensure uninterrupted District services and operational excellence.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience in building maintenance and operations
- Experience as a team leader
- Experience in a technical trade
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in technical engineering, industrial technology, or a skilled trade
- Mastery of at least one technical trade
- 6 years of increasing responsibility in building maintenance/operations and 2 years’ experience as a team leader
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- Complex practices of installation, maintenance, and repair for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
- Uniform building codes and public educational regulations for handicapped accessibility.
- Safety orders and regulations applied to the construction and operation of buildings.
- Principles of maintenance administration, including human resources, purchasing, and project management.
Skilled in:
- Mathematical calculations for budgeting, estimating materials, and measuring distances.
- Oral and written communication for preparing reports, correspondence, and technical specifications.
- Human relations to build service-oriented teams and work collaboratively with internal/external stakeholders.
Ability to:
- Plan, organize, and supervise work programs to optimize staff usage.
- Establish collaborative relationships with departments, contractors, and the public.
- Operate and instruct others on vehicles, equipment, and tools used in maintenance.
- Interpret building codes and translate blueprints or schematics.
