Purpose of the Position

Join our dynamic team as a Mental Health Professional, where your expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of homeless and formerly homeless individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based outpatient care. Your dedication will help clients develop resilience, improve coping strategies, and achieve their personal goals. Responsibilities

  • Facilitate intake procedures for new clients, including medical documentation review and biopsychosocial assessments to establish personalized treatment plans.
  • Complete clinical assessment tools as clinically appropriate and relevant.
  • Conduct assessment and treatment plan reviews within designated time frames or when clients experience a significant change in circumstances impacting treatment.
  • Deliver individual and group counseling sessions incorporating modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), client-centered therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), and creative therapies.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute mental health episodes effectively and ensure client safety.
  • Maintain meticulous treatment and client records in compliance with Medicaid Rule 132, State and Federal privacy regulations, and organizational policy and procedure.
  • Document patient progress using CPT coding for billing purposes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts and support patients' overall well-being across outpatient settings.

  • QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

    • High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years of experience delivering billable behavioral health services OR Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field
    • Current and valid Illinois Driver's License
    • Proven experience working with adults with behavioral health disabilities in clinical or outpatient settings.
    • Strong knowledge of behavioral management techniques, crisis management protocols, and trauma-informed care practices.
    • Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnostic classification and CPT coding for billing procedures.
    • Expertise in various therapeutic modalities including psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and group therapy.
    • Experience with medical terminology and medical records management within behavioral health contexts.
    • Ability to handle crisis situations effectively while demonstrating excellent communication skills and emotional resilience.
    • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
    • Intermediate knowledge of Windows office systems such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
