Job Summary
This position consists of several functions. The Federal Work-study Student/Student Success Specialist (SSS) will coordinate and implement student success and support activities under the guidance and academic goals established by the instructor. SSS reinforces lessons and lectures by tutoring individual students or small groups, serves as a liaison between students and services and supports offered by Phoenix College, and directly addresses needs relating to gaps in student success. SSS will also perform office duties such as data entry, supporting SSS activities and other projects.
Essential Functions
40% - Attends class(es) assigned to serve as a Student Success Specialist and providing support to both instructor and students.
30% - Provide support to students outside of class, such as conducting study groups, meeting 1:1 with students, reaching out to students in class via email.
20% - Supporting the Developmental Education Department with office tasks, data entry, supporting SSS activities and other projects.
10% - Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to maintain a courteous, friendly manner when working with students and staff.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from various backgrounds.
- Ability to keep a work schedule and professionally present yourself.

Additional Requirements
- Student must be attending Phoenix College during the current semester (enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits).
- In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job.
- FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
- FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
- FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
- The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.
