Position Summary

Posting Note: Join Phoenix Children's as a Respiratory Care Practitioner II in our growing Allergy & Immunology Clinic, where you'll have the opportunity to build lasting relationships with pediatric patients while working in a collaborative outpatient specialty setting. This Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM position offers an excellent work-life balance with no weekends or holidays, making it ideal for an experienced Respiratory Therapist seeking a rewarding clinic-based role. A key focus of this position is supporting the diagnosis and treatment of allergies, immunology, asthma, RAD, Eosonaphillic conditions, airway inflammation disease through advanced pulmonary diagnostic testing in the Allergy and Immunology department and working alongside the Pulmonology department. As a Respiratory Therapist you will perform a variety of pulmonary function and participate in patient education, contributing to quality improvement, staff education, and research initiatives across the Health System.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine pulmonary function testing, including spirometry, lung volumes, and Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) testing

• Complete respiratory assessments and provide patient and family education

• Assist with quality control procedures, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of pulmonary laboratory and diagnostic equipment

• Monitor quality assurance activities and maintain accurate documentation

• Participate in staff training and competency development

• Support the implementation of new testing procedures and protocols

• Assist with coordinating daily operations and shift activities

• Collaborate with physicians, researchers, and interdisciplinary team members to support high-quality patient care and clinical initiatives

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of biological sciences and cardiopulmonary physiology sufficient to perform pulmonary function testing

• Experience performing routine pulmonary function studies

• Familiarity with pulmonary laboratory equipment and related diagnostic equipment

• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with patients, families, providers, staff, and research personnel

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced outpatient specialty environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

Required Qualifications

• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association

• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

• Current Arizona Respiratory Care Practitioner License

• Successful completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program

• Minimum one (1) year of post-graduation respiratory care experience
Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatric respiratory therapy experience

• Outpatient Allergy, Immunology, Pulmonary, or other specialty clinic experience

• Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) experience

• Experience with spirometry, lung volumes, and/or Exhaled Nitric Oxide testing

• Post-graduation experience in a hospital environment

• Current PALS certification

• American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) membership
