Posting Note: Pediatric Neurocritical Care Neurologist

Phoenix Children’s - Phoenix, Arizona

Position Summary

Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) at Phoenix Children’s is seeking a fellowship-trained or clinically experienced Pediatric Neurocritical Care Neurologist to join our rapidly expanding Neurology Division. We are recruiting a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Child Neurologist with specialized training in Neurocritical Care who is committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and academic scholarship.

The successful candidate will join an established team of five pediatric neurocritical care specialists and contribute to the continued growth of one of the largest pediatric neurocritical care programs in the United States. This position provides the opportunity to care for critically ill infants, children, and adolescents with complex neurologic disorders within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Phoenix Children’s is the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU in Arizona and provides coverage for three additional Level III NICUs across the region. Our critical care infrastructure includes Pediatric ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, and NICU services, supporting a high-volume and diverse patient population with severe neurologic injury and illness.

The intensive care units at Phoenix Children’s include:

  • 48 Pediatric ICU beds - CA 6
  • 48 Cardiothoracic ICU beds - CA 5
  • 94 NICU beds – CA 11, Old NICU & F Pod

Together, these units account for approximately 3,340 admissions annually.

The successful candidate will provide specialized consultation and management for patients with traumatic brain injury, pediatric stroke, status epilepticus, hypoxic-ischemic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage, neuromuscular disorders, inborn errors of metabolism, and inflammatory or infectious encephalitides. The program is supported by advanced neuromonitoring capabilities including continuous EEG, intracranial pressure monitoring, and multimodal neuromonitoring technologies, as well as close collaboration with pediatric intensivists, neurosurgeons, epileptologists, neuroradiologists, and rehabilitation specialists.

Phoenix Children’s maintains a strong commitment to academic medicine and physician development. The successful candidate will participate in the education and mentorship of neurocritical care fellows, child neurology residents, and medical students, and will have opportunities to engage in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and programmatic innovation within the neurosciences service line.

This role offers an outstanding opportunity to join a nationally recognized pediatric healthcare system and contribute to the advancement of pediatric neurocritical care through clinical excellence, teaching, and scholarly activity.
