Position Summary
The Regional Clinical Director is responsible for providing clinical leadership, oversight, and strategic direction across multiple Phoenix Autism Center clinic locations. This role directly oversees Clinic Clinical Directors and is accountable for ensuring each clinic meets or exceeds established clinical key performance indicators, budget expectations, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
The Regional Clinical Director plays a critical role in developing high-performing clinical teams, driving consistency in clinical excellence, supporting change management initiatives, and partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Human Resources, and the Clinical Excellence department to advance organizational priorities. This position is also responsible for helping ensure all assigned clinics maintain compliance with Arizona Department of Health Services requirements and internal quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership and Oversight
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to Clinical Directors across assigned clinic locations.
• Ensure clinical programming, supervision, and service delivery are aligned with organizational standards, payer requirements, and evidence-based practices.
• Monitor clinic-level clinical outcomes and intervene as needed to improve performance, client progress, and treatment quality.
• Promote consistency in clinical practices, documentation standards, supervision quality, and family-centered care across all assigned locations.
• Support Clinical Directors in managing complex clinical cases, staffing concerns, and escalated family issues.
KPI and Financial Accountability
• Ensure assigned clinics meet or exceed clinical KPIs related to utilization, authorizations, supervision, treatment integrity, client progress, and other organizational performance measures.
• Partner with Clinical Directors and Operations leaders to monitor and improve budget performance, staffing efficiency, labor management, and productivity.
• Review clinical and operational data regularly to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
• Hold Clinical Directors accountable to performance expectations and action plans designed to improve clinic outcomes.
Team Development and Talent Growth
• Develop the clinical leadership capabilities of Clinical Directors and broader clinical teams through coaching, mentorship, accountability, and structured development.
• Identify skill gaps and partner with the Clinical Excellence department to implement training, mentorship, and professional development initiatives.
• Support succession planning and leadership development within assigned regions.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Change Management and Strategic Execution
• Lead and support implementation of organizational initiatives, clinical process improvements, and strategic changes across assigned clinics.
• Ensure change initiatives are communicated effectively, executed consistently, and sustained over time.
• Act as a key liaison between executive leadership and clinic-level clinical teams to ensure alignment and follow-through on priorities.
• Help drive adoption of new clinical workflows, systems, and quality initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with Operations to ensure strong clinic performance, coordinated problem-solving, and alignment between clinical and operational priorities.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on employee relations matters, performance management, organizational structure, retention efforts, and workforce planning.
• Work with the Clinical Excellence department on training, audit findings, treatment quality, standardization, and clinical program development.
• Support organizational initiatives that require collaboration across departments and regions.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
• Ensure assigned clinics maintain compliance with DHS standards, internal policies, payer expectations, BACB requirements, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Monitor clinic readiness related to audits, site visits, chart reviews, and licensing standards.
• Address compliance concerns proactively and ensure corrective action plans are developed and executed timely.
• Reinforce documentation accuracy, supervision standards, safety practices, and quality assurance processes across assigned clinics.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field required.
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst in good standing required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive clinical leadership experience in ABA or related behavioral health services required.
• Multi-site leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing clinical leaders, improving performance, and leading teams through growth and change.
• Strong knowledge of ABA clinical operations, payer expectations, utilization management, and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of Arizona DHS requirements and clinical compliance expectations preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel regularly between clinic locations as needed.
