General

General
- Oversee daily program operations, ensuring alignment with COMPASS standards, contractual obligations, and organizational goals.
- Design, implement, and monitor program schedules, curricula, and enrichment activities to meet participant needs and funder requirements.
- Establish a safe, structured, and engaging environment for all participants.
- Design recruitment and retention strategy to ensure program meets contractual enrollment and ROP targets
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director
- Lead recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of program staff to ensure consistent performance and quality.
- Conduct ongoing staff supervision, evaluations, and professional development.
- Ensure that all staff adhere to child safety, mandated reporting, and confidentiality policies.
- Oversee weekly site-level payroll.
- Manage program performance and ensure the program complies with funder expectations and oversight agency regulations (DYCD, DOH, OCFS, etc.)
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and administrative records.
- Monitor program outcomes and participant engagement to ensure continuous improvement.
- Manage all related programmatic budget oversight including purchases, reporting and budget modifications with the support of the Finance Department.
- Serve as the primary liaison with school personnel, families, and community partners.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a childcare, after-school, or related youth development program.
The Program Director must meet one of the following sets of qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field and two (2) years of direct experience working with children under 13, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare or related program.
- New York State Children’s Program Administrator Credential and two (2) years of direct experience working with children under 13, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare or related field.
- School-Age Child Care Credential or other Office-recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period and two (2) years of direct experience working with children under 13, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare or related field.
- Two years of college with at least 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field and two (2) years of direct experience working with children under 13, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare or related field.
