Responsibilities
- Clear snow and ice from designated outdoor surfaces using shovels, snow blowers, or other manual tools
- Apply salt or de-icing agents to prevent ice buildup and enhance safety
- Monitor weather conditions regularly to anticipate snowfall and plan timely snow removal efforts
- Maintain pathways, stairs, ramps, and parking areas free of snow accumulation to ensure safe passage
- Report any hazards or damage related to winter weather conditions to supervisors promptly
- Assist with other groundskeeping tasks as needed, including basic landscaping or outdoor maintenance
- Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent slips, trips, falls, or equipment accidents during snow removal activities
Skills
- Strong outdoor work experience in various weather conditions with the ability to work efficiently in cold environments
- Mechanical knowledge of hand tools, power tools, snow blowers, shovels, and other groundskeeping equipment
- Familiarity with landscape maintenance and groundskeeping practices during winter months
- Knowledge of plant identification and horticulture basics for seasonal landscape adjustments
- Ability to operate irrigation systems and landscaping equipment safely and effectively
- Understanding of pesticide management principles when applicable for winter treatments or pest control measures
- Excellent attention to safety protocol adherence and hazard awareness during outdoor winter work
