What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drivers Ed Instructor - Certification Required position at PHILOMATH HIGH SCHOOL?
Conduct behind-the-wheel driving lessons for students (primarily age 15-17 years) with varied levels of experience. This position is on the road, real time driving in a driver education training car with a passenger side brake pedal. This position requires scheduling flexibility. Number of lessons scheduled each day/each week cannot be guaranteed. This position is part-time and may include weekends. Daylight and night time driving hours are required. Back up for in classroom as needed.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appliants must already have a valid certificate from the ODOT Traffic Safety Education Program - Driver Ed Course Schedule - Traffic Safety Oregon
- Applicants must be residents in the state of Oregon and have had an Oregon State Driver License for at least five years with a clean driving record.
- Be comfortable driving in all weather conditions - day and night.
- Any instructor teaching in an ODOT-TSD approved program must hold a current certification card from ODOT/WOU. Training will be provided, if needed.
- Pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide driving instruction making students safe and responsible drivers.
- Follow the PLAYBOOK curriculum and flow chart as outlined by the program.
- Represent Philomath School District Driver Education Program as a skilled professional driving instructor.
- Have knowledge and understanding of current Oregon traffic laws.
- Communicate to parents and students any areas of opportunity to work on while practicing behind-the-wheel sessions at home.
- Complete drive assessment documentation for each student at the end of behind-the-wheel sessions.
- Communicate with and respond to Driver Education Coordinator in a timely manner.
SALARY: Hourly - Extra Duty rate per the Licensed negotiated agreement
