Our team operates at the nexus of aviation, SaaS, and critical public infrastructure. We are working directly with the world's largest aerospace companies, newest aviation startups and government agencies to define the future of air mobility. With early traction and these key partnerships secured, we need a pioneering Founding Engineer to own the technical vision and build a world-class engineering organization. What You’ll Do:

• Architect the Altaport platform for massive scale and reliability, making foundational decisions on everything from system design to data modeling that will persist for decades.
• Master exceptionally hard problems at the intersection of software and the physical world, collaborating with titans of the aerospace industry to build systems that work flawlessly.
• Engineer and deploy robust, production-quality software in rapid iterations, maintaining a tight feedback loop with aviation experts who depend on our platform for daily operations.
• Build intelligent systems, moving beyond simple AI integration to design and implement the predictive models for dynamic airspace and ground resource management essential for autonomous operations.
• Scale the platform to ingest and fuse disparate, real-time data streams into a single, canonical source of truth for situational awareness and operational control across a global network of airfields.
• Set the standard for engineering excellence, creating a culture of high-quality code, rigorous testing, CI/CD, and operational observability from day one.
• Act as a strategic partner to Altaport leadership, driving the product roadmap and technical vision from first principles.
• Build the team, mentoring engineers and establishing the DNA of a world-class, high-performance engineering culture.
  
  
  

What We’re Looking For:

• Founder mentality – an obsessive sense of ownership, deep resourcefulness, and the ability to execute with clarity in a complex, ambiguous domain.
• Product-obsessed engineering mindset – a relentless focus on building elegant, robust solutions for complex user problems. You sweat the details and build things that last.
• Deep technical expertise across the stack. You are a proven systems builder. Experience with our stack (Next.js, Typescript, React, Postgres) is a huge plus, on top of your experience architecting and engineering solutions to meet business needs.
• A history of thriving in high-growth environments, especially in early-stage startups where you’ve had outsized impact.
• Bias for shipping – you move with urgency, make intelligent trade-offs, and understand that value is created by what you deploy, not what you design.
• Proven experience with complex data systems, particularly with ingesting, processing, and deriving insights from real-time operational and financial data.
• Exceptional technical leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas clearly and influence the company's direction.
• Intellectual curiosity and technical depth; willingness to dive in and figure out how to solve tough challenges by using the latest technology; experience with AI/ML model integration is a plus.
