Groundman

Groundman are required to perform heavy physical duties on a variety of tasks which are generally semi-skilled in nature. The duties will vary depending on the type of work assigned to crew. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Hauling brush and wood from the tree to the truck, assisting the tree climber, using ropes, various hand and power tools, and cleaning the job site. 

• Work with take down crews to ensure good communication between crew. 

• Function as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills. 

• Operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other equipment as needed on job-site. 

• Maintain issued personal gear, crew gear, and equipment. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None 

 Requirements: 

• Competent or willing to learn chainsaw operation and maintenance. 

• Follow safety guidelines and wear all PPE required. 

Education and Experience:  

• High School diploma preferred. 

• 1 year of professional tree climbing/tree trimming/groundman work experience. 

Candidates that accept an offer of employment are required to undergo and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. This exam is essential to ensure that all potential employees meet the necessary health and fitness standards for the role. The examination includes a series of tests and evaluations conducted by a certified medical professional to assess overall physical health, identify any potential medical conditions that could interfere with job performance, and verify that the candidate is capable of safely performing the essential duties of the position. 

Completion and clearance of this physical are mandatory steps in the hiring process.
