Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Operate hydrovac trucks and associated equipment to perform non-destructive excavation safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections of the hydrovac truck, vacuum system, and water systems to ensure proper working condition; report any issues immediately.
- Perform daylighting, potholing, trenching, and debris removal in accordance with project requirements and safety standards.
- Safely locate and expose underground utilities, minimizing risk of damage to existing infrastructure.
- Maintain proper control of high-pressure water and vacuum systems during excavation.
- Transport and dispose of excavated materials in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Navigate job sites and public roadways safely, adhering to DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, utility locators, and crew members to coordinate work activities.
- Maintain accurate logs of work performed, materials removed, and hours worked in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings and training programs to stay current on industry regulations and best practices.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of hydrovac equipment.
- Assist with general site labor duties when required.
- Proven experience operating hydrovac trucks or similar heavy equipment in a construction or utility environment.
- Strong understanding of underground utility safety practices and excavation procedures.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Ability to read utility locates, maps, and job site plans.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and flexible schedules, including overtime.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating hydrovac trucks or similar heavy equipment.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred or required, depending on vehicle classification.
- Additional certifications related to utility work or excavation safety are a plus.
