Summary: 

The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training programs that strengthen the technical, operational, and safety competencies of employees working in the heavy civil and power construction markets. This role supports craft workers, field leadership, and project teams by providing hands-on instruction in construction methods, power-sector procedures, equipment operation, and field technology. 

 

Objectives of this Role: 

  • Develop and implement effective training programs to increase workforce competency.
    • Support heavy civil and power market operations with high-quality technical instruction.
    • Partner with field leaders to identify skill gaps and create targeted training solutions. 
    • Drive adoption of new technologies, equipment, and systems through structured training. 
    • Ensure all training aligns with company safety standards and regulatory requirements. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver training programs in areas such as earthwork, utilities, structures, concrete, T&D, and substation construction.
    • Train field personnel on safe equipment operation (excavators, dozers, cranes, digger derricks, bucket trucks).
    • Develop training materials including SOPs, presentations, manuals, and video content. 
    • Conduct field evaluations to assess performance and determine training needs. 
    • Support implementation of construction technology such as Procore, Bluebeam, GPS machine control, and telematics. 
    • Maintain training records, track progress, and measure program effectiveness. 
    • Ensure training meets OSHA, DOT, NESC, and company safety standards. 
    • Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance workforce proficiency. 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • 3–7 years of experience in heavy civil, power, utility, or industrial construction.
    •Strong communication and presentation skills. 
    • Experience conducting training or mentoring field personnel. 
    • Proficiency with construction software and field technologies. 
    • Ability to translate complex technical content into clear instructional material. 
    • Ability to travel to project sites as needed. 

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: 

  • OSHA 500/510 or Authorized Trainer certification.
    • NCCER Instructor Certification.
    • NFPA 70E or utility safety certifications. 
    • Instructional design or adult learning methodology training. 
    • Experience with T&D or substation construction. 

 

Pre-Employment Physical Requirement: 

Candidates who accept an offer of employment are required to undergo and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. This exam ensures that all potential employees meet the necessary health and fitness standards for the role. Completion and clearance of this physical are mandatory steps in the hiring process.
