Position Summary:
The Survey Engineer performs field survey operations and CAD drafting efforts for heavy civil construction projects, including reservoirs, canals, and site development. This role involves performing UAS photogrammetry surveys, performing accurate field layout, generating accurate construction models, and working closely with project engineers and field crews to ensure the integrity of layouts and designs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, Construction Technology, or related field.
Experience:
• 0–2 years of experience in surveying or civil CAD drafting.
• Internship or co-op experience in heavy civil construction is a plus.
Technical Skills:
· General knowledge of Photogrammetry and Lidar UAS operations.
• Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (or similar CAD platforms).
• Familiarity with survey instruments such as total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and data collectors (e.g., Trimble).
• Understanding of topographic mapping, construction layouts, and grading plans.
• Exposure to survey data processing software (Trimble Business Center, Leica Infinity) is a plus.
• Working knowledge of construction drawings and specifications.
Soft Skills:
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data and drawings.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt in fast-paced field and office environments.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support both field and office teams.
Responsibilities:
· Perform UAS Photogrammetry surveys on multiple regional construction sites during a week.
• Assist in setting up and conducting construction layout and topographic surveys under supervision.
• Process field data to generate CAD base files, as-built drawings, and alignment/layout plans.
• Draft survey plans, cross-sections, and profiles for reservoirs, canals, and site development.
• Support field crews by preparing stakeout files and ensuring coordinate accuracy.
• Maintain organized records of survey data, CAD files, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with Survey Managers, project engineers, and project managers on construction requirements and updates.
Additional Requirements:
· Willingness to travel to multiple regional active construction sites in a week.
• Willingness to work on active construction sites.
• Valid driver’s license (site travel is required).
• Basic understanding of safety practices in construction environments.
