Job Summary
The Elevator Utility Technician is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing elevator systems to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with heavy equipment, and the ability to work in manufacturing or industrial environments. The technician will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and support elevator system upgrades while adhering to safety standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of elevator components, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical or electrical issues using specialized tools and techniques
- Repair or replace faulty parts such as motors, control panels, or safety devices
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts when necessary for parts handling or system installation
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities
- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards
- Assist in the installation of new elevator systems or upgrades as needed
Experience
- Prior experience in manufacturing, food processing, farming, agriculture, or food production environments is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience working with heavy equipment operation is preferred
- Familiarity with commercial driving or tanker operations is a plus but not required
- Experience operating forklifts or other industrial machinery is beneficial
- Knowledge of elevator systems or similar mechanical systems is a strong asset
- Previous work involving maintenance or repair of complex machinery will be highly regarded
